The Tewksbury First Aid & Rescue Squad is staffed 100% by volunteers who serve as EMTs and drivers providing pre-hospital emergency care and rescue services. Those 18 years of age and older may also volunteer their time as Associate members, who do not provide emergency care but do get involved in fundraising, administrative duties and community outreach. Two membership classifications are available to those aged 14-17. EMT Cadets are focused on becoming EMTs by the time their Cadet tenure expires at age 18. Those in the same age range who are not interested in becoming EMTs may join as Associate members with duties as described above.
No EMS experience? Never driven an ambulance? Fear not! Training is provided by TFARS and our educational partners for all of our members providing emergency medical care and rescue services. Further, the cost for EMT certification, which is obtained through qualified instructional providers in Hunterdon County, is fully refundable provided candidates complete the course successfully and pass all required certification examinations. All of our members are fully trained to perform the tasks required of them and all members are required to continue to hone their skills through continuing education. We take pride in providing competent, compassionate, FREE services to the Tewksbury community.
We are always in search of new volunteers! Remember, being part of a rescue squad is a real commitment of time and training. But, we can guarantee you that that commitment will reap many rewards.
