The Tewksbury First Aid & Rescue Squad is staffed 100% by volunteers who serve as EMTs, drivers, associate members and cadets. EMTs and drivers provide pre-hospital emergency care and rescue services throughout Tewksbury and occasionally in neighboring towns as mutual aid partners. Associate members aged 18 and older assist with fundraising, squad administration and community outreach, but are not responsible for rendering emergency medical care. Cadets may begin to volunteer at age 14, become eligible to attend emergency calls (with CPR certification) at age 16, and are encouraged to take the EMT course at age 17.
Are you already a physician, PA, registered nurse, or advance practicing nurse? You can use the training and experience you already have to become a licensed EMT without taking the full NJ EMT course. Your experience is invaluable and allows you to hit the ground running as a valued member of a vital community organization. Fear not! Training is provided by TFARS and our educational partners for all of our members providing emergency medical care and rescue services. Further, the cost for EMT certification, which is obtained through qualified educational providers in Hunterdon County, is fully refundable. All of our members are highly trained to perform the tasks required of them, and all members are required to continue to hone their skills through continuing education. We take pride in providing competent, compassionate, FREE services to the Tewksbury community. We are always in search of new volunteers!
